Too late for inclusion in the printed invitation we received a big YES from Lois Capps, and from California Poet Laureate Al Young, to our request that they join the list of honored speakers at the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner.
Al, I might mention, is a dear dear old friend. He's one of those rare men of letters who are as eloquent on their feet as they are on the page. He is always passionately engaged in progressive causes. In fact, in the proclamation signed by Arnold Schwarzenegger naming Al as Poet Laureate, the Governor felt compelled to state explicitly that Al is a Democrat!
